The Affordable Schools Initiative is a citizens’ action group committed to raising awareness and understanding of the role of public school finance in the health of our community.
We highly value our schools and their record of excellence. However, we question their management when, for a decade, dramatic increases in school spending have brought no particular benefits in terms of educational outcomes or other advantages to our community.
Our members have, or had, children in the Brighton Public Schools. We moved to Brighton largely because of the schools.
We are troubled that our schools rapidly escalating costs are arguably becoming unsustainable, while our district’s national rankings and graduation rates are declining.
This blog site is ASI’s - and YOUR - forum. ASI is non-partisan, entirely independent of the Brighton public education bureaucracy and supported wholly by its members. We hope the questions and comments aired here will encourage your participation in the future of the Brighton Central School District.
We need your participation. Please click on “Want to participate” in the left sidebar to learn how you can help shape the direction of our school district.
